Chronic Kidney Failure Ayurvedic Treatment

Chronic kidney disease is the last stage known to be an end-stage renal disease of chronic kidney disease. Our kidneys are the most adaptable and self-healing organs in the human body. They have the ability to carry on functions at the start of the disease, and by the time you figure out you have the disease, it gets too late. There are umpteen sets of reasons why you may develop CKD, such as hypertension and diabetes.
In 2015, around 320 million people were reported to have suffered from the disease, and among those 320 million, nearly 1.2 million people lost their lives. India has been on a greater risk of CKD or kidney failure because of our changing lifestyle.
What is Chronic Kidney Disease?
Chronic kidney disease is a loss of kidney function over time. It is a condition that results in the buildup of waste in the bloodstream and the pile-up of urine at times. Accordingly, the kidneys shrink or swell when the urine elimination process gets disturbed.
When CKD develops, the kidneys slowly become damage and so-called chronic. The damage can be as extreme as kidney failure or liver failure or heart failure.
What are the symptoms of CKD?
If you think you can diagnose CKD in its initial stages, then probably you are heading wrong. In the later stages, the body shows some signs because of fluid retention, which seizes to match with another disease in the body. This is why it is hard to diagnose kidney disease in its initial stages.
The symptoms may include:
1. Loss of appetite: The loss of appetite is a sign of chronic illness- anorexia nervosa. However, kidney patients also feel their stomach is too full, or they have lost interest in the foods. Sometimes, the food tastes like metal as the taste bud changes at that time.
2. Chest pain: In the stages of CKD, the harmful waste may accumulate in the bloodstream of the heart, which increases the chest pain and pressurizes the heart of the patient.
3. Shortness of breath: Such fluid retention in the surroundings of the lungs can hamper the normal function of the lungs and may cause severe panting or breathlessness.
4. Nausea and vomiting: The fluid buildup may react in different possible ways. One such way is the excretion of the waste in the form of vomit.
5. Itching: Uremia can lead to itching that makes the patient snag the skin constantly.
6. Anemia: The kidneys are held responsible for producing red blood cells, but when they become unable to do so, you may have low RBCs count in the hemoglobin. On account of anemia, you may notice a lack of energy, a confusing state of mind, and shortness of breath.
7. Swollen legs and feet: Swelling is a sign of every kidney problem developing because of the fluid retention in the cells and tissues of the body. The fluid deposit in the cells may also make the patient gain weight.
Changes in the urination: You may need to urinate more often but in a less amount. Sometimes, the urine show blood, foaminess, and foul smell.
What are the causes of CKD?
By this time, you might have got to know that the kidneys are adaptable, and they help the blood filtration process even at the time of disease. This means that a healthy kidney cannot get the disease in a day, but slowly over time. CKD is a byproduct of some other well being conditions in the body, some of which include:
Diabetes: High blood sugar in the blood is the reason why you may have kidney disease. High blood sugar, for a prolonged time weakens the blood vessels of the kidneys, and makes them filter blood in one go. This damage to the blood vessels can make them lose their function, manifesting kidney failure, or diabetic kidney disease.
High blood pressure: High blood pressure is another factor hampering the way healthy kidney functions. High blood pressure means the blood is continuously flowing with high speed, of the kidneys as well. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can develop CKD.
Glomerulonephritis: It is the inflammation of the kidney’ filters called glomeruli. There are a number of causes affecting the filtering capacity of the kidneys and resulting in permanent damage to them.
Polycystic kidney disease: PKD is the development or occurrence of the sac-like membranes over the kidneys. It is an innate condition affected by the alterations in the PKD1 and PKD2 genes of the parents.
Other conditions that may raise the risk of CKD include:
Pyelonephritis (A type of UTI infections)
Autoimmune disorders
Kidney stones
Exposure to toxic metals
Smoking
Alcohol
A family history of kidney disease
The stages of CKD
CKD develops in stages and not abruptly. GFR is the assessment of the remaining kidney function and the stage of CKD. GFR means how much blood the kidneys are filtering each minute, and it corresponds to the following of the five stages:
Stage 1 CKD: Stage 1 of CKD is rarely diagnosed as the GFR remains normal, i.e., 90 ml/min or higher.
Stage 2 CKD: In stage 2 of CKD the patient suffers from kidney damage with a slower GFR rate; as ranging between 60-89 ml/min.
Stage 3 CKD: At stage 3, the GFR comes down to a range between 30-59 ml/min with moderate loss in kidney function. At this time, a few of the symptoms start to show up in the body, such as foamy urine, blood in the urine, and swelling.
Stage 4 CKD: At stage 4 of CKD, there is severe damage to the kidneys, and you will notice many of the complications resulting because of fluid retention.
Stage 5 CKD: Stage 5 of CKD is also called End-Stage Renal Disease. It is the stage when the kidneys have been bought by failure or near to failure. The GFR in this stage goes beyond 15 ml/min.
